The first dish to arrive was the lamb and chicken skewers and sliced lamb doner kebab, served with a garlic and salsa sauce with rice and marinated vegetables.
It was also served with a fresh salad. I love Turkish rice, which has sehriye, a type of pasta, added to the rice. This is similar to Egyptian rice, which is made with vermicelli instead.
There was so much meat on the plate for the two of us that there was no way we were going to finish it. Instead, I just took a small sample of everything on the plate.
The standout for me was the lamb doner kebab meat, which was so tender and the accompanying garlic sauce that was drizzled over it was a perfect match.
